Travel Route

Gimhae International Airport lies about fifteen kilometres west, around thirty to forty minutes by public transport. The Busan Gimhae Light Rail connects the airport with Sasang Station on Line 2, from where Seomyeon is a direct ride. Airport limousine buses also stop in Seomyeon, and taxis take about thirty minutes depending on traffic.

Busan Station, the terminal for KTX high speed trains from Seoul, is about fifteen minutes from Seomyeon on Line 1. The KTX journey from Seoul takes around two and a half hours. Busan Station also has the international ferry terminal nearby for ships to Japan.

Seomyeon Station is the hub of the Busan Metro. Line 1 runs north toward Beomeosa Temple and south to Nampo and Jagalchi. Line 2 runs east to Gwangalli, Haeundae and BEXCO, and west to Sasang. Rechargeable transport cards, such as T money or Cashbee, work on subway and buses.

Busan buses complement the subway, especially for Gamcheon Culture Village, Taejongdae and Haedong Yonggungsa Temple. Real time apps such as Kakao Map or Naver Map show routes and arrival times, while Google Maps is less reliable in Korea.

Taxis are plentiful and affordable, and the Kakao T app allows booking with automatic payment. Drivers rarely speak English, so showing the hotel name and address in Korean is helpful.

For day trips, Gyeongju, the ancient capital of the Silla kingdom, is about thirty minutes by KTX or an hour by express bus. Tongyeong and Geoje Island lie a couple of hours west by bus.

Ferries to Fukuoka and Osaka depart from the Busan International Passenger Terminal near Busan Station, making it possible to combine Korea and Japan in one trip.
